Abstract

The principal objective is to study the dynamic of the planetary boundary layer (PBL) above areas of tropical forest and pasture in Rondônia. This objective will be reached by means of: 1) two field measurement campaigns in experimental areas around Ji-Paraná, Rondônia. The first camp mission occurred in September 1992, the second in July 1993, with continuous measurements of the dynamic and thermodynamic profiles above the forest and pasture simultaneously, for a period of three weeks; measurements of turbulent fluxes of heat and momentum on the surface will be supplied by the experiment which will take place simultaneously; 2) for analysis and synthesis of the observations numerical models will be used, from the most simple, such as one-dimensional models of PBL, to complex threedimensional meso-scale models.
