Translational medicine: hepatocellular regeneration, hemodynamics and portal modulation study in a clinical and experimental model of Small-for-size Syndrome

Abstract

The appropriate hepatocellular regeneration is needed for successful hepatectomy or liver transplant partially graft with these excessive regeneration hepatocytes in the absence of a parallel growth of non-parenchymal cells leads to changes in the micro-architecture of the tissue that they are critical in the pathogenesis of the syndrome SFS. In a pre-clinical model clinically relevant to be able to identify the critical factors involved in the pathological regeneration, and may also serve as potential therapeutic targets for prevention of hepatocellular excessive growth. Considering these points, we aim through surgical or pharmaceutical intervention to demonstrate a significant improvement in tissue microarchitecture, function, and outcome after major liver resection or transplantation with partial liver grafts.
