Abstract

Currently it is inconceivable not to consider the need (and often obligatory) regarding the application of Quality Management in laboratories. Among the different types of laboratories in Brazil, due to the importance of agribusiness, we highlight the agricultural laboratories that perform tests of interest to agriculture, whether in the analysis of food, inputs or medicines. Due to a requirement from the Ministry of Agriculture, under pressure from food importing countries, these laboratories need to have implemented quality management systems such as ISO/IEC 17025 and apply other tools, such as the use of Proficiency Testing, to ensure quality and reproducibility of results, which leads to the need to develop national Proficiency Tests to meet specific demands of agricultural laboratories.
