Abstract
In industries composed of complex equipment, arranged in series or in parallel, a simple failure can mean the shutdown of the production line as a whole, generating huge financial losses and inconvenience. The methodologies for detecting failures and analyzing their effects have great applicability in the industry, for example to improve the performance of products, to optimize their resources, to reduce costs involving unexpected stops, among others. Equipment maintenance, previously seen as a "necessary evil", has come to be considered a strategic activity indispensable to production, in addition to being one of the bases of all industrial activity. The focus of maintenance, which was only corrective (that is, after equipment failure), became preventive (scheduled preventive maintenance). The increase in the cost of maintenance has been one of the main factors responsible for the growing study of reliability. A complex system can also be divided into several subsystems, and the subsystems make up the subsystems hierarchically until the elements cannot or cannot be divided. System hierarchies can help engineers better understand the relationships between components and their importance and functions. The representation in groups of systems / subsystems / components in series, takes us to a context of competitive risks, on the other hand, groups in parallel give us freedom for other types of interpretation. To model the dependency structure between multiple complex repairable systems, the well-known fragility model will be adopted. In this context, this project is composed of three sub-projects that aim to develop research in the area of reliability seeking to contribute with new methodologies of practical interest, expanding and complementing some results found in the literature.
