Immunogenetic markers of clincial evolution of COVID-19

Abstract

Infection with the new coronavirus (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2: SARS-CoV-2) and the clinical course of the resulting disease (Coronavirus Disease: COVID-19) are significant challenges for contemporary science, as they represent a severe public health problem. The majority of individuals infected with SARS-CoV-2 remain asymptomatic, while approximately one fifth has a clinical evolution of heterogeneous COVID-19, ranging from mild to severe cases, whether or not followed by death. In this context, the investigation of immunogenetic markers in infected individuals (symptomatic [mild and severe] and asymptomatic) favours the immunogenic understanding of humans in the face of SARS-CoV-2 infection and clinical evolution of COVID-19.
