Abstract

This research project aims to analyze the economic situation of Brazilian families, with greater emphasis on those headed by people for more than 60 years, to identify public policies to encourage savings and create mechanisms to support people in situations of financial fragility. We define financial fragility as the inability of people to bear unexpected expenses, which can easily occur with people over 60 years of age, with greater susceptibility to diseases and misfortunes. In this sense, the research adopts qualitative and quantitative perspectives to obtain aggregate information and perceptions of the main actors (heads of family over 60 years). We will collect aggregated data in official databases - IBGE, National Treasury Secretariat, Central Bank, and IPEA. In addition, the perception data will be obtained from the actors through interviews, focus groups, and questionnaires. (AU)
