Abstract

The main computational tool for analyzing and simulating the neutronic and thermohydraulic behavior of a nuclear reactor core is a system of integrated calculations in order to provide all parameters related to the behavior of the core throughout its lifetime. There are some computer systems with a similar purpose, but when it comes to tools to meet the development of the nuclear propulsion project for military vessels, there is no supplier from another nationality that meets this demand, as this involves, in addition to other factors, strategic military technology focused on national security, that is proprietary and non-transferable technology. The Marinha do Brasil, through the CTMSP, needs to develop such codes, since they are non-transferable, for the reasons explained above, and, mainly, because of the current phase in which PROSUB is, where new concepts of the core of LABGENE need to be developed for improvement, evolution and continuity of PROSUB. The SAANRE-MB project would be the first tool developed in Brazil to meet this purpose. (AU)
