Abstract

Bone exhibits high healing potential but depending on the damage extension additional treatments are needed to assure tissue repair. Therapies based on cells produce meaningful bone formation; however, without inducing the complete bone regeneration. Based on evidences that modifications of cells enhance their capacity to regenerate tissues, the aim of this project is to regenerate bone using modified stem cells generated by growing them on unique surface topographies and injecting these cells on rat skull defects. The innovation of this study is the use of topographies instead of drugs or genetic modifications to control cell functions, facilitating the clinical applications. (AU)
