Abstract

Although the state of matter at densities around and below the nuclear saturation density is reasonably well understood and constrained by theory and experiments, the state of matter at higher densities can only be constrained by astrophysical observations. In the last 10 years, substantial advances have been made in determining various properties of neutron stars through the observation of radio waves (pulsars), X-rays (NICER) and gravitational waves (LIGO/Virgo). In this project, we will continue with the work carried out in recent years, which focuses on establishing links between microphysical properties of dense matter and astrophysical observables through the study of neutron star oscillation modes and tidal deformabilities.
