Abstract

Project aims at broadening the knowledge on the characterization, morphological variability and phylogeny of some complex species of genera Euastrum Ehrenberg ex Ralfs and Micrasterias C. Agardh ex Ralfs. The project aims also at the formation of highly prepared human resources to work on the freshwater green algae advanced taxonomy. Aims, consequently, at the opening of new investigation lines and possibilities for studies on the classic and polyphasic taxonomies, in the latter case the taxonomy subsidized by other areas of knowledge as ecology, morphometry, molecular biology and phylogeny. Such a research avenue is presently totally in need of well capacitated human resources in Brazil. (AU)
