Vitrimers based on acrylic and vinylic polymers crosslinked via dynamic ester and amide bonds: development, processing, formulation and recycling

Abstract

Vitrimers are polymeric materials that display properties similar to thermosets, such as dimensional, mechanical and thermal stability. However, the presence of dynamic covalent bonds imparts dynamic character to these properties that can be activated by temperature, light or microwaves. Their tridimensional polymeric network is prone to reprocessing, mechanical recycling and confers self-healing properties. This project aims at preparing random copolymers which will be cross-linked via multifunctional linkers capable of producing vitrimeric behavior. The main goal of this project is assessing the effects of the copolymer composition, content of cross-liking units and others on the dynamics of their network and reversibility with respect to reprocessing and self-healing. With this information, we aim at correlating their [...]. (AU)
