International cooperation between UFABC-CNRS/L2S in control of distributed energy resources for Smart Grids

Abstract

This research project aims at international cooperation between UFABC-CNRS-L2S based on the project financed by FAPESP entitled "Development of control techniques applied to the grid converter in a bidirectional battery charger for electric vehicles" (Process 2022/00323-3). The scientific goal of this project is to develop control techniques applied to a prototype bidirectional battery charger for electric vehicles (EVs), one of the main distributed energy resources in SmartGrids . Initially, the charger is modeled as a three-phase DC/AC converter on the grid side whilst the battery charging/discharging is emulated by a programmable DC current source. A prototype of the system will be built at UFABC to validate the proposed control strategies with experimental results. This project is the first step to enable a long-term collaboration between these institutions in topics such as the control of power converters, the control and management of SmartGrids, and on the design and construction of prototypes for evaluating new control strategies for power converters and SmartGrids.
