Abstract
The proposed study consists of the specification of a software architecture based on the model of objects and actions. The principal sub-systems of the architecture are: communication subsystem, for reliable activation of persistent objects; name server, for maintenance of information on persistent objects; the objects repository; and the atomic action subsystem. The study involves the integration of research in areas such as communications protocols, programming interfaces, techniques for fault tolerance, and effective implementation of a prototype of the architecture.
