Abstract

The objective is to study racism as a determined and necessary form of production and reproduction of the capitalist sociability in Brazil. The intention is not to affirm that racism is established after capitalism, but to understand that the historical development of capital as a social relation, the capital-relation, implies certain functionalities that are reproduced through the formalization of specific ethnic-racial relationships that are coextensive to the conjunctural dynamics assumed by the exploitation of the black population's labour force subsumed under the commodity-form. This co-extension is not reductive, it is a co-extension that formalizes a specific social structure. The research will be based on 1) the marxian exposition of the forms, functions and activities that make up the production and reproduction of the capital-relation, 2) the exposition of the dynamics assumed by these forms, functions and activities in the brazilian context proposed by the marxist theory of dependence and 3) by the tradition of brazilian researches who analyzed certain aspects of the coextensive fold between racism and capitalism.
