DEVELOPMENT OF A MOBILE APPLICATION FOR MEASUREMENT AND DIAGNOSIS OF ENVIRONMENT AND WELFARE FOR BROIDER CHICKENS

Abstract

The challenges faced by poultry farming worldwide drive the adaptation of traditional production systems, so that they allow greater guarantee of health, broiler chikens welfare and food security, making the demand for the creation of technological solutions for new business models aiming for a more sustainable industry. In this context, poultry farming 5.0 enhances poultry production, using a set of new technology-based solutions. Therefore, this project was submitted to FAPESP, seeking funding for the development of an application for smartphones and tablets that allows the measurement of the environment and/or well-being of broiler chickens in the commercial system. Obtaining the most appropriate management in response to mitigate or correct any mistake in the chicken breeding process that is harming productivity and/or well-being. To this end, the execution of the project was divided into two stages, in the first stage data will be collected from different batches of broiler chickens to establish the application database, and in the second stage this data will be organized and the application will be developed, elaborated and tested in different breeding situations. The scientific data will be translated into intuitive graphic images, allowing this to be a fun and easy-to-use application, in which anyone can obtain a diagnosis and suggest solutions for those in the farm.
