Abstract

In this project we will work with optimization algorithms and their implementations in quantumcomputers based on trapped ions, as a proof of concept, with the aim of investigating solutionsto industrial problems. In particular, we will investigate algorithms aimed at object allocationproblems in industrial warehouses, with a special focus on variational algorithms such as theQuantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA). This is a project that brings togethertheoretical researchers from UFSCar (São Carlos, Brazil), engineers and business professionalsfrom the von Braun Center (Campinas, Brazil) and a group of experimentalists from the Universityof Innsbruck (Innsbruck, Austria), in order to that we have all the requirements to develop all thenecessary steps to develop solutions for applications of practical interest.
