Bioinformatics applied to diagnostic, follow-up, and treatment of pediatric Cancer

Abstract

Since 1990 I have been dedicating myself to bioinformatics. Over the last five years, I have participated in projects with the Boldrini Children's Center, where all research is aimed at diagnosing, monitoring, or treating childhood cancer. This project aims to obtain resources for the continuation of this activity, collaborating with the search for more efficient and simplified methods of monitoring acute lymphocytic leukemia, with the search for new drugs to treat cases that do not respond adequately to conventional treatments, and applying genome rearrangement studies that we have carried out in recent decades to improve methods of searching for gene fusions in childhood cancer samples, thus contributing to a better understanding of this disease and, in the longer term, bringing improvements to patients' living conditions.
