Abstract

In collaboration with researcher professors from the University of Coimbra (UC) and the Teacher Training Center of the Federal University of Recôncavo Baiano (CFP/UFRB), this Research Project aims to continue research already carried out and in progress by its participants and, in particular, by the researcher responsible for it. In addition to the studies of the constitutions of scientific notions carried out by Jean Piaget and collaborators, recent publications in Genetic Epistemology have shown that the notion of construction of reality can be extended to encompass philosophical aspects of the construction of reality. In this context, in which diverse philosophical and scientific views, and constructions of reality related to them, are possible, epistemic descentration becomes necessary, i.e., it becomes necessary to consider and understand that, why and how various philosophical and scientific positions of reality are possible and even necessary. In particular, the need to establish and understand a unique reality (not remaining in a mere general relativism) leads to the need of elaborating general lines for a unifying philosophical and scientific vision that makes epistemic descentration possible. Recently, we proposed a set of concepts called Systematizing Concepts, which makes it possible to consider the notion of Philosophy as a System. They establish general lines of a philosophical vision that supports, understands, organizes and systematizes, in a unit, different possibilities of philosophical and scientific views of reality. In this context, based on the work carried out previously and in development, the General Objective of this Research Project consists of: (a) on the one hand, researching the possibility of epistemic descentration (i.e., a way of reconciling different philosophical and scientific views and constructions of realities, pointing to a possible unity of knowledge) in terms of the concepts of Genetic Epistemology itself, in particular, by those exposed and systematized through the Model of the System of Schemes of Actions and Operations on Symbols and Signs (MoSSAOSS); and, (b) on the other hand, situating the implications of the development of this possibility, both for Genetic Epistemology and for Philosophy as a System through Systematizing Concepts. In this sense, the following specific objectives are proposed: (1) Show how Systematizing Concepts and concepts related to MoSSAOSS enable epistemic descentration. In particular, provide analyses, concepts and arguments that make it possible to think and deal with such diversity in a knowledge unity. With them, general lines of a philosophical-scientific vision will be established, in order to support the possibility and necessity of various philosophical and scientific views, and constructions of realities related to them, overcoming epistemic centration. (2) Investigate and expose the genesis itself of the notions of possibility and necessity within the constructions of scientific and philosophical theories about reality, according to MoSSAOSS. (3) Evaluate a possible change in the meaning of the role of Genetic Epistemology in relation to the philosophical vision of Philosophy as a System, through Systematizing Concepts, due to Genetic Epistemology enabling and explaining the diversity of philosophical-scientific constructions of reality, through MoSSAOSS. (4) Evaluate, as well, possible changes in the meaning of Philosophy as a System, established through Systematizing Concepts, due to Genetic Epistemology enabling and explaining the diversity of philosophical-scientific constructions of reality, through MoSSAOSS.
