Abstract

Decisions in various fields often require analyzing a series of criteria. These decisions become complex when their consequences have significant impacts on society, businesses, and even on a personal level. Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) has been widely used as a tool to assist in these decision-making processes. This project focuses on a challenge in the area of MCDA: dealing with uncertainties in the data involved in the problem. The central objective consists of developing and applying methods to address this issue amidst uncertainty. Initially, a methodological approach will be addressed, exploring MCDA techniques integrated with machine learning and data science models. The purpose is to develop metrics and methods that can quantify and minimize the uncertainties present in decision outcomes. In a second, more applied phase, we will conduct studies to develop or select MCDA methods that are capable of effectively handling uncertainties in decision-making in both public and private sector management. The research proposal seeks to advance the field of multi-criteria decision problems under uncertainties by developing and applying techniques at the intersection of MCDA and management, leveraging the potential of machine learning and data science techniques.
