Abstract

This proposal for the Visiting Researcher Award aims to enhance an extension project at Centro Universitário FEI and a FAPESP research project focused on photocatalysis. FEI's undergraduate Chemical Engineering course, supported by the graduate program, emphasizes water treatment techniques to aid Brazilian communities near dams, involving quality evaluation and industrial effluent treatment through various analyses and operations. Photocatalysis offers a sustainable pollutant degradation method using UV-light. Prof. Riccardo Tesser from NICL-UNINA, with expertise in kinetic modeling and adsorption processes, will apply Monte Carlo simulations to different reactive systems, benefiting both institutions. Additionally, NICL-UNINA's multidisciplinary research on ionic liquids and advanced water treatments complements FEI's projects. Planned lectures by Prof. Dr. Rosa Turco and Prof. Riccardo Tesser will teach computational studies using Monte Carlo methods and explore the use of ionic liquids and environmentally friendly reactions involving vegetable oils. The visit will take place from november 1st to 16th, spanning 16 days. (AU)
