Abstract

Currently, a research project is being developed in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Pedro Miguel Rebelo Resende, with the aforementioned title which is in the process of being sent for consideration by Fapesp. The objective of this project will be to carry out an in-depth study of agricultural and/or forestry residues from Brazil and Portugal, in a microwave-assisted catalytic pyrolysis process, verifying their characteristics and possible applications, using fresh biomass and samples doped with catalysts. It is also intended to analyze and develop mathematical models to represent the effect of microwaves on biomass in a reaction medium for implementation in open-source software with the aim of carrying out computer simulation. Based on the amplitude and frequency of microwaves, establish the final phase of the elemental composition of the biomass, taking into account the fixed carbon of the sample, and define the energy efficiency of the biomass in question. For this purpose, the biochars and gases generated will be evaluated. (AU)
