Abstract
At the end of 2022, Professor Dr. Fernando Ferrari Putti had his project entitled"Development of new technologies to reduce the effects of water stress in modelsintegrated with nutrient administration" approved in the Call for Proposals - ResearchAssistance Initial Project ¿ (Pi). From this call, 111 projects were selected to have accessto FAPESP's medium-term funding instrument with a duration of up to 60 months. At thebeginning of 2024, Professor Dr. Lucia Adriana Villas Bôas Goulart had a regular projectapproved, entitled "Development of thermal insulation boards from fungalbiocomposites". Various pieces of equipment have been planned to carry out the projectwithin the approved budget and in order for them to be installed properly, it will benecessary to adapt a microbiology room for handling and packaging fungal species. Theequipment will be installed in a room in the FCE's Ambience and Food Laboratory, whichwill be named the "Microbiology Room". The purpose of the room will be to carry outvarious experiments for the different research groups at the unit. In this sense, and giventhe need to install the equipment acquired in the projects, this project proposes the use ofresources from the Institutional Technical Reserve available from FAPESP to prepare thesite for the installation of research equipment, as provided for in the Norms for the Useof Resources from the Technical Reserve Granted by FAPESP in item 7.2 a). This actionis crucial for the development of research at FCE, as it will directly serve at least 20professors from different areas who carry out work related to microbiology. In this way,we hope that the installation of the equipment in the FCE's Environment and FoodLaboratory will reduce research costs and travel risks for FCE researchers, as well as thepossibility of increasing the FCE's research interaction networks, which will contributeto improving the quality and diversity of research on campus. One of the main objectivesof this project is to create a research area focused on the development of myceliumbiocomposites at the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FCE) on the UNESP campusin Tupã.
