EMU: Acquisition of a CT scanner and cell irradiator in culture for Advanced Diagnosis and Innovative Therapies in Veterinary Medicine, Multi-User Center for Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics in Pirassununga - BioPira

Abstract

The Multiuser Center for Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics of Pirassununga (Central BioPira), headquartered at the University of São Paulo, Fernando Costa campus in Pirassununga-SP, is located in the central region of the State, 200 km from São Paulo, 120 km from Campinas and 100 km from Ribeirão Preto and Piracicaba and 75 km from São Carlos and is one of the Centers of the USPMulti Program (https://uspmulti.prp.usp.br/public/centrais/86), also registered on the MCTI National Research Infrastructure Platform (PNIPE https:// pnipe.mctic.gov.br/backoffice/laboratory/11162). The present proposal aims to allow access to differentiated research infrastructure, to provide a new level of scientific excellence to work carried out in different and/or complementary areas on the USP Pirassununga campus and other regional institutions, expanding and updating the equipment park of the BioPira Central for the acquisition of: a multislice tomograph, for carrying out advanced imaging diagnosis and multidisciplinary use with the Veterinary Imaging Laboratory; and a cell irradiator for experimentation in the area of cancer radioresistance. This proposal is linked to 7 (seven) associated projects (Thematic, Regular Research Aid and New Generation of Researchers Program), in the areas of agricultural sciences, human and animal health, and several other complementary projects that can benefit from the proposal, linked to the Postgraduate Programs of the Host and Associated Institutions. This proposal will demonstrate the experience of the Responsible Researcher in the performance and management of Multi-User or Sharing Laboratories and the potential impacts of the EMU project on research and innovation, which could be fostered by the Multi-User Center, from the point of view of advancing knowledge and scope. of its use.
