Integration of Sensing Techniques for Agricultural Soil Fertility Characterization and Creation of Management Zones

Abstract

The collaboration aims to explore synergies between teams with experiences in a wide range of soil sensing techniques, both proximal and remote devices. The focus of this first year of collaboration will be on evaluating attributes related to soil chemical fertility, using chemical quality indices for the spatial distribution of individual attributes and their combined use to create soil fertility zones. In the long term, a tentative proposal would be to establish a robust scientific partnership, expanding the scope of research beyond chemical fertility, exploring soil health as a whole. The potential for future research includes topics such as regenerative agriculture and carbon credit quantification, highlighting the importance of precision agriculture for environmental sustainability and greenhouse gas mitigation. Thus, this collaboration establishes a solid foundation for future research with significant scientific and social impact. (AU)
