EMU: Oxford Nanopore DNA and RNA Sequencing System

Abstract

The request for resources is intended for the acquisition of the Oxford Nanopore sequencing system, highlighting its importance for the research and study of the microbiome. In addition to being essential for the associated research project, the benefits of its acquisition will be extended to all researchers at the College of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences (FCAV). Furthermore, these benefits may also be extended to external researchers, provided there is demonstrated scientific interest in its utilization. In this way, it will be possible to fully conduct research protocols involving genomic library construction and microbiome analysis, regardless of the user's research focus. This will provide high-quality support to researchers, whether they are in national or international research centers. Therefore, the sequencer will play a key role in veterinary medicine research projects at FCAV, significantly contributing to the understanding of microorganisms associated with animal health. However, we emphasize that its use will not be limited to veterinary medicine, allowing for interdisciplinary collaborations and partnerships with various research areas, thereby enhancing the scientific impact of the equipment, not only at FCAV Unesp but also in other research institutions in the state of São Paulo.
