Articulation between sustainability and equity in pedagogical practices and teaching materials on climate emergency: proposition and analysis

Abstract

This project will seek to generate scientific evidence on the potential of schools and youth for environmental education focused on the inseparability of sustainability, interculturality, and equity. It intends to involve four undergraduate research fellows in the Biological Sciences course to propose and investigate the development of activities that foster the articulation between sustainability and equity in the understanding of concepts, values, and forms of participation related to the theme of the climate emergency. It will be developed in partner schools of the project "Equity and sustainability in the articulation between curricula, pedagogical practices, and teacher training in public schools in São Paulo," funded by FAPESP's PROEDUCA call for proposals. The objective is to collaboratively investigate the challenges and potential of school environmental education processes related to the theme of the climate emergency, considering four participatory methodologies, each developed and investigated by an IC fellow: production of an interactive model on areas of risk and disasters; analysis and production of audiovisual resources; production of cooperative games focused on strengthening the power to act; production of an investigative didactic sequence on rainfall regimes using rain gauges. Data will be collected through questionnaires, focus groups and recordings of discursive interactions during school activities. In order to gain scale, the developed products and their results will be disseminated collaboratively in schools, in the Repository of Usable Experiences for Sustainability and Equity (REUSE), under construction in the associated project, and on the co.educa platform.
