Abstract

Baclofen and Rolipram are 3-Substituted GABA derivatives, used to treat various neurological disorders. Baclofen is quite efficient to treat spasticity, and Rolipram has been proposed to lessen the symptoms of multiple sclerosis and to have antipsychotic effects. In view of the importance of Baclofen and Rolipram, new routes for their synthesis are important challenges to the organic chemist. The present research project proposes some new routes, starting from less expensive reagents, and envisages simple synthetic processes. (AU)
