MULTIDISCIPLINARY PROGRAM IN OIL, GAS AND BIOFUELS IN THE MID-NORTH REGION

Abstract

The creation of a human resources program by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) in Piauí is a strategic initiative, especially relevant in view of the growing interest in the exploration of the Brazilian Equatorial Margin (MEB), considered a new horizon for the production of oil and natural gas, with the potential to transform the national energy scenario, strengthening applied research and technological development in areas such as clean technologies, biofuels and new materials, with qualified professionals. In this context, the presence of the ANP through a human resources program at the Federal University of Piauí will be essential for: a) Training of Qualified Human Capital: the development of the Equatorial Margin will require professionals specialized in several areas, such as engineering, environment and regulation. The ANP program will be able to promote the technical and regulatory training of the local workforce, creating qualified employment opportunities for Piauí; b) Strengthening Regulatory Capacity: with the expansion of exploration and production activities in the region, it will be essential to have ANP teams prepared to act in a decentralized manner, ensuring compliance with operational safety and environmental protection standards; c) Fostering Regional Development: the human resources program will contribute to the socioeconomic development of the state, promoting partnerships with universities, research centers and technical education institutions in Piauí, stimulating innovation and the emergence of new businesses focused on supporting the oil and gas industry; d) Promoting Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility: given the environmental challenges associated with the exploration of the Equatorial Margin, the program will enable training professionals to work in the areas of licensing, monitoring and inspection, enabling responsible environmental management; e) Integration with the Supply Chain: the Mid-North Region may benefit from the expansion of the energy sector value chain, providing logistical, technological and operational support services. Furthermore, the development of biofuels, renewable energy and new materials are promising areas in the state, considering the availability of biomass, agricultural potential and natural resources, in addition to complementary areas such as petroleum derivatives used in different applications. In short, the ANP's human resources program in Piauí will be an essential tool to prepare the country for the new growth cycle of the oil and gas sector on the Equatorial Margin, promoting sustainable development and wealth generation, with training and research.
