Abstract

Due to its high energy value and its role as an input for other industries, oil will continue to be a strategic product for the development of nations around the world, with a strong influence on domestic policies and international relations for both countries that have reserves and those that do not. Due to the complexity of the processes (from exploration to extraction and transportation of oil and gas), the billions invested and the need to achieve a fair energy transition, the oil industry requires highly qualified human resources, with solid technical training and motivation to develop advanced research. The excellent training offered by the courses involved in this proposal, combined with UFRN's experience of over 25 years in the oil, natural gas and biofuels segment, favors the establishment of permanent contacts with companies in the sector (Petrobras, Shell, Repsol Sinopec, Galp, ENEVA, Brava, ExxonMobil, etc.), which seek qualified labor, partnerships for R&D&I projects and technological services. Over the years, companies such as Halliburton, SLB, PetroRecôncavo and Netzsch have promoted several selection processes (for internships and trainees) aimed at UFRN engineering students. Petrobras has frequently selected students from the UFRN Petroleum Engineering Course for internships at the Exploration and Production Business Unit (UO-RNCE), currently the RN Headquarters Building (EDIRN). There is also a considerable number of former students who have entered the sector and achieved success in the roles they performed. For 16 years, the UFRN Petroleum Engineering Department (DPET) has been operating in the oil and energy sector, executing infrastructure, research, development, innovation and technological service provision projects. The set of laboratories described in this project places DPET/UFRN as a national reference in the area. Therefore, it can be seen that the Human Resources Training Program in Petroleum Engineering and Renewable Energy proposed here will offer all the necessary conditions for the formation of a highly qualified workforce, with solid technical training and in tune with the new ideas and trends in the sector.
