Abstract

Aiming to academically and professionally prepare FGEL/UERJ students for the dynamic Oil and Gas market in Brazil, and leveraging the expertise of its faculty, its physical infrastructure, and its institutional partnerships, FGEL developed PRH28.1 - Professional Training in Basin Analysis for Petroleum and Natural Gas Exploration. Approved by the ANP in 2019, the program has been running continuously since its inception. The primary focus of PRH-28.1 has always been the integration of geologists from the Faculty of Geology at UERJ into the national job market. This is largely due to the faculty's solid expertise and extensive experience, which have allowed for swift adaptations or the inclusion of curricular components aligned with the evolving demands of the oil industry.Since its inception, PRH-28.1 has focused on forging partnerships with private, public, and mixed-capital companies to provide comprehensive training for geologists aiming to pursue careers in Petroleum Exploration (oil and natural gas). The teaching and research methodology implemented at the Faculty of Geology at UERJ and adopted by PRH-28.1, starting in the early stages of the PRH-ANP Program in the late 1990s and early 2000s, has proven highly effective in delivering the necessary qualifications to students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in petroleum exploration.
