Abstract

To provide support for the implementation of more intensive use of image processing in current research and development projects of the Instituto de Pesquisas Energéticas e Nucleares - IPEN. The strategy is to provide an introduction to the theory and applications of digital image processing and subsequent systematic use. Topics will include fundamentals of image acquisition, image enhancement, filters and transforms, segmentation, and applications. This will emphasize the microstructural characterization of materials using the digital image processing program Image J. (AU)
