Abstract

Dr. Bruce Ferwerda will visit Prof. Marcelo Manzato's group at ICMC-USP in São Carlos and will also collaborate with Profs. Rudinei Goularte, Kamila Rios da Hora Rodrigues, Diego Silva Furtado and Maria da Graça C. Pimentel from the same institution. Dr. Ferwerda will deliver a course on recommender system topics with a focus on user-centered approaches, including fairness, diversity, and explainability in personalized recommendation. Shared research interests will be presented and discussed in a dedicated workshop and throughout the visit. The long-term objective of the visit is to establish a lasting research partnership among the involved researchers. Based on prior preparation by the Brazilian team, collaborative experiments will be conducted during the visit, and the results will be documented in jointly authored papers. These efforts will also serve as the foundation for a joint research proposal to be submitted independently in both countries-Brazil and Sweden-under the scope of the collaboration. (AU)
