Etiological, biochemical and molecular aspects of Guignardia citricarpa, agent responsible for leaf spot in citrics

Abstract

The present project is composed o three independent subprojects which, analyzed together, will permit a better understanding of the structure and the behavior of the pathosystem Citrus(Guignardia citricarpa) which, consequently, will make viable the control of the disease. Its duration is four years. The subproject "Etiological, biochemical and molecular aspects of G. G. citricarpa, an agent causing leaf spot on citric fruits” is composed of 4 modules, while the subproject 2, entitled ""Epidemiology of leaf spot in citrics - a systemic approach” will be composed of 3 modules. Subproject 3, entitled " Control of leaf spot in citric fruits caused by Guignardia citricarpa”, will consist of 6 modules. All the subprojects will be developed in an integrated manner, in different institutions of teaching and research, possessing, for this purpose, a multi-disciplinary team. In addition to this, various experiments will be developed under field conditions, being carried out, thus, in privately owned properties. (AU)
