Abstract

This project aims to study the effect of laser and conventional light with different powers and exposure times on hypothermically preserved livers for transplant and in remaining livers after partial hepatectomies. Given the results previously obtained in this laboratory it is hoped that the stimulant effect of hepatic regeneration with low-power laser may protect the liver to be transplanted, following different preservation times, from the lesions caused by hypothermia 'per se' and by ischemia and subsequent reperfusion.
