Abstract

This proposal presents research plans to investigate the physics of the ultrafast/ultrasmall through standard numerical techniques for theoretical modeling. Via Monte Carlo simulations I will address fundamental statistical mechanics problems in magnetic nanoscale systems. With stable schemes for the solution of partial differential equations, I will study transient phenomena in semiconductor surfaces following fem to second pulse excitation. These numerical approaches allow modeling of real systems which are relevant for both scientists and technologists. (AU)
