Systemic study for the development of advanced refractory concretes

Abstract

Although it is considered a strategic material, in Brazil few groups are dedicated to the study of refractory ceramic materials, and even smaller is the number of those who are focused on the correlation between the design of the microstructure, the thermo-mechanical properties and computational simulation. Within a systemic vision this project proposes: a) to broaden the experience already acquired by the proposers, guided by an integrated vision of the production cycle of advanced refractory concretes, b) to guarantee to the Brazilian participants conditions of research in the evaluation of the properties of the refractories in function of the temperature. The achievement of these goals will be fundamental in the establishment of the links that lead to the generation of science and technology and to the training of human resources with a strong foundation in the needs of the productive sector.
