Abstract

This concerns a study of the patterns of trade union representation from the union central office and Força Sindical (Trade Union Force), starting from the question: to what extent do these union head offices seem to constitute themselves in centers of political and trade union identity for the workers they claim to represent? Based on a survey carried out with the bases of three affiliate unions of the CUT and two affiliated to Força Sindical, we seek to measure the independent impact of the proximity to the head offices on the constitution of political and trade union attitudes of workers. This research will be carried out through an agreement between USP and CEBRAP, and has as two other objectives the training of researchers in quantitative techniques and social analysis and to reinforce the ties between USP and CEBRAP.
