Abstract

Four types of insect proteins have been selected and the resolution of their structures are expected to be reavealing. The proteins are: beta-glycosidases, digestive lysozymes, trypsins and peritrophins. These proteins are being studied in our laboratory and we have cloned and expressed one of the beta-glycosidases, we have clones of lysozymes and some trypsins and one peritrophin have been purified to homogeneity. We are also interested in helping to study proteins coded by genomes of Brazilian interest. We are particularly interested in glycoside hydrolases and peptide hydrolases and their protein inhibitors.
