Abstract

The aim of this project os to realize a documental research and to analyse the economic housing production in Brazil between 1930 and 1964. The production developed by the public sector as well as by private promoters will be studied under the perspective of understanding the influence of the movement of modern architecture in Brazilian housing production and to identify the transformations occurred in this production during this period. The project is divided in four parts: 1) housing production realized by the public sector; 2) production of housing areas in new towns; 3) private production of economic housing; 4) technological innovation of housing construction. The project forecats documental research and observation in loco, interviews, literature review and qualitative analysis, bringing together researchers of the Faculty of Architecture abd Urbanism (São Paulo) and the Department of Architecture of School of Engineering (São Carlos) both from University of São Paulo.
