Influence of biomateriais to the bony consolidation in female dogs submitted to ovariosalpynxhysterectomy

Abstract

The objective of the present research will be to evaluate the effect of the hydroxyapatite with alendronate and hydroxyapatite with collagen in the bony consolidation of the radius of adult female dogs submitted to the ovariosalpynxhysterectomy (OSH), with intention of verifying the viability of these biomateriais in the acceleration of the bony consolidation. For this, 14 female dogs, between 2 and 5 years of age, will be divided in two groups of equal number, the group control and the group OSH. Four months after OSH, the two groups will be submitted to the surgery for production of a bony flaw of 4mm of diameter in the radio third distal and proximal region of both limbs. In the third distal of the right thoracic limb the hydroxyapatite will be used with alendronate and in the left thoracic limb the hydroxyapatite with collagen, in the third proximal region any biomaterial won't be used, settling down as control. The study will consist of daily clinical evaluations until the 20th day of the postoperative period and radiographics evaluations and optical densitometry in the 30th, 60th, 90th and 120th postoperative days.
