Abstract

The aim of this Project is to describe and analyze the textual aspects and didactic workings of the educational work of teachers in a municipal elementary school from the metropolitan region of São Paulo (SP). The teacher's work appears, in this direction, as essential prerequisite for understanding the place of language and learning technologies in the process of increasing complexity at school in highly literate societies like Brazil. Based on this general purpose, the Project provides a video-recorded corpus of language teaching practice and didactic instruments. From the theoretical and methodological concepts, the issues of the Project deal not only with studies related to the description of organization modes and language working at school interactions (BATISTA 1997; MARCUSCHI 2005; MATÊNCIO 2001; ROJO 2007) but also on studies which take the specific didactic dimension of these interactions as a focus of research (GOMES-SANTOS & ALMEIDA 2009; SCHNEUWLY, CORDEIRO & DOLZ 2006). From the applied point of view, they allow not only to reflect on the place of language in school life compared to the multiple and complex interactional patterns of the classroom nowadays, but they also provide central information on the instance of the initial and continuing teacher education, considering the relevance of confrontation with teaching practices as a starting and arrival point of teacher education process.
