Abstract

Fluxgates are vectorial magnetometers with high sensitivity, only lower than SQUIDs, but operating at ambient temperature. Originaly these sensors have been developed with size and power consumption incompatible with a lot of technologies, restricting its use. To overcome this fact, several types of microfluxgates have been proposed in the literature making use of the thin film technology. Based in early workswhich determined the best parameters for NiFe and NiFeCo alloys eletrodeposition, this project intend to build functional sensors using planar technology in order to test the ferromagnetic material and also innovative sensor layouts. Firstly, only macro scale devices will be created for simplicity but, unlike the conventional macrofluxgates, this will be directly scalonable. After a systematic characterization of each device, only the best in performance will be miniaturized. (AU)
