Abstract

Endometriosis is a common gynecological disorder, affecting 5-15% of women in the reproductive period and up to 3-5% in post-menopausal. Some aspects of this disease remain the subject of research, highlighting the search for the etiology in order to better understand the development of endometriosis focus and than, to direct efforts to improve diagnosis and treatment. In the past few years, much has been studied about immunological factors in the pathogenesis of endometriosis and many anomalies were found. For some reason, still uncertain, the endometrial cells that enter the endometrial cavity would not be eliminated and thus allow that they implement and develop the disease. The balance between immunity and tolerance is important for maintaining immune homeostasis and many mechanisms used to maintain the immune response under control as the active suppression by regulatory cells and the NK cell activity. It is known that NK cells play an important role in the clearance of endometrial cells in the peritoneal cavity and that T-reg cells likely play an important role in regulating this disease. Thus, to evaluate the expression of chemokines regulating the activity of NK cells (CXCL9, CXCL10, CXCL11, CXCL12, and CX3CL1 XCL1) and T-reg (CCL17 and CCL21) in topic and ectopic endometrium of patients with endometriosis and compare them to the topic endometrium of women without endometriosis would be an important step to understand this disease.
