Abstract

Sub-Project 1. We will study the role of C5 in the inflammatory response and gene expression in the liver after injury induced by ethanol treatment. The inflamamtory response will be evaluated in vivo by histopathological analyses, productions of cytokines (IL-6, IL-10, IL-12 e TNF-alfa)in the liver in the presence and absence of complement C5. Sub-project 2. We will study the structural requirement of Factor H for its secretion. Sub-project 3. We will study the correlation of low levels of complement activity and development of prostate cancer. (AU)
