Abstract

Unhappily, in most cases of lung cancer (LC), the diagnosis is delayed, what explains, in part, its dark prognostic. In this phase, the therapeutically used is chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The conventional reply to chemotherapy does not exceed 30%. The heterogeneity of chemotherapy reply shows that previous molecular identification, of these patients, would be very important for this therapeutically modality. The objective of this study is to analyze 100 patients with non-small- cell lung cancer, without previous treatment, carrying through genotyping analysis (PCR-RFLP, PCR-SSCP and automated DNA sequencer) and of protein expression (immunohistochemically). The understanding of these findings will help, in clinical practice, the treatment of the lung cancer through the chemotherapy and the prognostic markers, optimizing resources. This analysis will be important to improve the overall survival. Statistical analysis will be performed using X2 test or Fisher's exact test and to calculate survival rates the Kaplan-Meier method will be used. (AU)
