Abstract

The following application (under the category Auxilio a Pesquisa Regular) is for financial support for the publication of the book Os Sentidos do Trabalho (Ensaio sobre a Afirmação e a Negação do Trabalho) in English. The application is made on the basis of a conditional offer from the publishing house Brill Books, to publish the book once it has been translated into English. In the current era of the globalisation of human and social sciences, the book's translation into English is increasingly relevant, for both intellectual and scientific reasons, as well as for socio-economic ones. The book Os Sentidos do Trabalho was originally presented for my professorship in The Sociology of Labour at IFCH/UNICAMP, and was the result of our research during my Visiting Research Fellowship at the University of Sussex, England, which was supported by a Postdoctoral research grant from FAPESP. We hope, therefore, that you will recognise the relevance of this funding request, and that it will be met with approval from your Board. (AU)
