Abstract

The aim of this work is the study of plant debris accumulations with decimetric thickness through geophysical methods and different data integrations using GIS and represents a new approach in quaternary environment. The study area is located in Preto river, which is part of the basin of Itanhaém river. After biostratonomic studies were found beds or accumulations of plant debris which allows being maped and registered through these methodologies. Their use may allow us to know the distribution and stratigraphy, as well. This view will make possible to improve the knowledge about the taphonomy of ripariam tropical forest, that may be used to elaborate interpretations about Cenozoic paleofloras like those registered in the associated basins to the SE continental rift.
