Abstract

This work deals with the preparation and characterization of gold nanoparticles supported on carbon nanotubes. The resulting systems will be tested in the selective hydrogenation of alpha,beta-unsaturated aldehydes and ketones, nitrocompounds, imines and in the selective hydrogenation of benzene to cyclohexene (in batch). The materials will be characterized by several spectroscopic techniques, by electron transmission and scanning microscopy, by nitrogen adsorption/desorption and by ICP-EAS (to determine de gold loading).
