Abstract

The current investigation is concerned with experimental measurements of ecological efficiency of alcohol in an aeronautical piston engine. In fact, ethanol, already yield less environmental damage then Avgas due to the fact that it does not have tetraethyl lead emission. Ecological efficient by definition is an indicator that allows the comparison of the pollutants emissions, transformed in ''equivalent CO2'' with those considered standard air. In this project, the main objective is to obtain the ecological efficiency values with experimental test measurements with both alcohol and Avgas fuels. In order to carry out this investigation a test bench will be assembled/adapted and both performance and gas emissions data will be taken. With these data the ecological efficiency may be determined and the environment impact evaluated. (AU)
