Abstract
If one edge of a bar is alternated heated and cooled, heat waves will propagate throughout the bar. After a elapsed time, the temperature distribution inside the bar reaches a periodical state, independently of the initial temperature distribution. Then, the thermal diffusivity may be calculated starting from the temperatures recorded at two selected points. Angstrom was the first researcher to employ this technique and his work was considered to be of outstanding interest by the clearly development of the mathematical tretment and by the innovation of his method. In this work, Angstrom method will be employed in the axperimental determination of thermal diffusivity of polymers. Polimeric samples in shape of cylindrical or square cross section bars will be prepared by the extrusion process starting from powder or pellets of the solid polymer. (AU)
